Yesterday was Fletch’s birthday, and he a whole year old now. I knocked off work a bit early to go pick him up from school. We went for his first bike ride, which he was okay with. I wouldn’t say he loved it, but I think he’ll come around. We also played at Piedmont park with some other kids. He didn’t seem to get the whole point of the day (of course), until we gave him a cup cake. That he understood. Pics below.
I won’t mention my memories from a year ago yesterday, but it was kind of a surprise how it felt to celebrate the anniversary of Fletch’s birth. It was great, but it was also the anniversary of a very surreal night and a fairly significant trauma. Naturally it all worked out for the best, but it was kind of weird to be reminded of all that. I guess it’s impossible to understand parents until you become one, because I’d never once thought of any birthday in this context. I bet it fades with time though.

We brought Fletch to Hendersonville on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Already he has eaten his first spaghetti, and played with Patty and Papa’s dog. Hopefully we’re off to see Santa Claus this afternoon. Here’s a few pics.
Here’s a couple of pics of Fletch at 10 mos. with his Pooh Bear. Also, I found a couple of extra Halloween pics on Kelly’s camera, so I’m throwing them in for good measure.
I’ve been saving a stack of Polaroids I took at Peyton’s Wedding, hoping to find something to do with them. Since Peyton and Adam visited this weekend, I decided to scan the pics and send the originals home with my sister. The color has faded some with time, but here they are anyway.
